RMNCSBA Ewe Lamb Program for Young Novices
The RMNCSBA Novice Program is sponsored by the Rocky Mountain Natural Colored Sheep Breeders Association (RMNCSBA), an organization of sheep producers, wool artisans, and other individuals interested in improving the breeding and promotion of colored sheep and wool in the Rocky Mountain region.
The RMNCSBA Novice Program is open to any youth, 9 to 18 years of age, in Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming and/or Utah. Ewes or ewe lambs with natural colored genetic breeding donated by RMNCSBA members will be given to one or more selected youths to promote interest and encourage involvement in raising natural colored sheep.
A Selection Committee made up of RMNCSBA members will choose the individual youth(s) selected to receive sheep. Selection will be based up answers to questions on the application form, the young persons ability to provide and care for the animal, and their willingness to participate in natural colored sheep activities such as showing the animal and/or its fleece in one or more wool shows. Preference will be given to youths that are not currently raising, or have not previously raised natural colored sheep.
The ewe or ewe lamb will be awarded to the selected youths at a time agreed upon by the donor and the recipient of the sheep. If the donor and the recipient have a problem regarding how and when the lamb will be transferred, the board members of the RMNCSBA will be the arbitrator in any dispute. Their decision will be final. In the even that more than one sheep is donated, the selected youths will choose an animal based on a draw system to be determined by the selection committee.
To be eligible for consideration, all application forms must be completed and returned no later than May 15, 2003. All application forms must be signed by a parent or guardian or they will not be considered.
Here are news, photos and updates about some of our past ewe lamb recipients and the progress of their flocks.
